Common questions
How do I log an expense?
Tap the camera button in the center of the tab bar to scan a receipt, or add a transaction manually from the Ledger tab. You can try the whole flow on the interactive demo without installing anything.
How do I set up a savings goal?
Go to the Goals tab and tap the + button to create a new goal with a target amount, then contribute to it over time.
Is my financial data private?
Yes — everything is stored on your device and in your own Apple iCloud account. Pennywick has no separate user accounts, no ads, and no analytics SDKs. Receipt scanning and categorization run on your device by default. If you turn on one of the optional cloud reading modes, only the text of a receipt is sent, never the photo. If you create a household, invited family or roommates can see the shared ledger through Apple CloudKit Sharing — only people you invite. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I share with family or roommates?
In the app go to Settings → Data & backup → Household. Create a Family (full ledger) or Roommates (expenses only) household, then invite people with the system share sheet. Each person needs Pennywick on their own device and an Apple ID signed into iCloud.
How do I delete my data?
In Settings → Data & backup you can delete all data from this device and iCloud. If you used household sharing, leave or stop the share first so invited members lose access. There is no separate Pennywick account or developer-held copy to delete.
Does Pennywick connect to my bank account?
No. Pennywick has no bank linking and no aggregator integration, and it never asks for banking credentials. You add spending by scanning a receipt or typing an entry.
What does Pennywick cost?
The app is free to use, one optional purchase unlocks everything it does on your device, and the Pro subscription covers hosted cloud receipt reading only. The pricing page explains what sits in each tier.
