Version 1.3.4
Light mode
Pennywick launched dark. It is a receipt scanner you mostly open standing in a shop, and dark is how I use it — but enough people asked for the other option that shipping only one was clearly the wrong call.
New
- A full light theme, drawn for every screen, sheet, row and chart rather than inverted — and checked for contrast in daylight, which is a different test from checking it on black
- An Appearance setting — Light, Dark, or System. System follows your iPhone's own light and dark schedule, so the app turns over in the evening with everything else.
- Rate Pennywick from Settings, whenever you feel like it, instead of only when the app asks
Improved
- Importing is quicker. A receipt you share or drop into Pennywick now opens straight in the confirm sheet — there is no review queue to clear first.
- Clearer progress while a shared PDF or image is being read, and a plain explanation when it can't be, instead of a spinner that just stops.
Changed
Pennywick now handles one receipt at a time. Scanning a batch in one pass, splitting a bill by line item, and slicing a photo of several receipts have all been retired. They were used far less than they cost to keep working well, and the scan flow is faster and more predictable without them. Splitting a single expense across categories still works exactly as before, and nothing you have already saved is affected.
Pennywick is on the App Store. Something not working the way it should? Tell me — it's a one-person project and the messages get read.
